Eat Like Hudson Williams, Plus the Glute Routine Behind That Cake

story by KALEA MARTIN

Shane Hollander is the kind of hockey player who sticks to a macrobiotic diet even when his teammate invites him over or dinner. He eats brown rice and salmon so reliably that his mother can place his order before he even arrives at the restaurant. He’s willing to indulge in a tuna melt—if Ilya Rozanov is making it for him—chooses ginger ale over alcohol, and is the type to follow a burger recipe to a T, cooking eight patties for two people because it never occurred to him to halve the measurements.

Hudson Williams, the actor who plays Shane on the Heated Rivalry television series, shares more than a few habits with his fictional counterpart. While he isn’t a professional athlete, Williams ate like one in preparation for the role, building a routine centered on heavy protein, disciplined workouts, and strategic indulgences. The result: a visibly transformed physique (most notably in the glutes department, as fans have noticed). Below, a look at what Williams eats and the workouts he does to keep that cake stacked.

Breakfast: Supplements Over Solids

Hudson Williams isn’t a big breakfast person, and typically skips it in favor of intermittent fasting. “I usually fast — I don’t eat until 1 pm,” he tells The Cut. Instead of food, his morning starts with supplements. “I take a double scoop of creatine monohydrate every morning. It helps me wake up and it’s really good for you,” he says, adding, “Sometimes I take ashwagandha in the morning if I’m feeling stressed and my cortisol is really high. It lowers the nerves. I also have a mushroom cordyceps complex that’s stress relieving.”

Ground Beef & Chicken Thighs

During season one of Heated Rivalry, Williams drastically increased his protein intake, inspired by his co-star Connor Storrie. “The first time I saw Connor, I was amazed by how muscular he is,” Williams recalls to Vogue. “I just started pounding the protein.” That meant consuming chicken thighs and ground beef on the regular.

1 pound is almost half of kg…The hero he is, no wonder he cried, I would cry too (btw he’s kinda Shane coded with this healthy food stuff) 😭 I’m going to the gym too so I know how it’s hard, caz for me it’s already a win if I eat 300gm of meat in a day…so 0,5 kg is impossible 😭 #hudsonwilliams #shanehollander #heatedrivalry #hollanov #ilyarozanov

“I spent every waking minute that I wasn’t shooting with Connor in the gym and eating as much ground beef as he did, which was a lot.” Williams reveals on The Shift. “It was a pound a day of just beef, which was not fun. There’s a photo of me somewhere on my phone where I am crying eating because it was so much. I was crying after the first patty.”

The effort ultimately paid off. “Through the process I gained 10 pounds of really lean muscle,” he tells Vogue.

Sliders and Burgers

Considering he manages to eat one pound of beef per day, it’s no surprise that sliders and burgers are a go-to for Hudson Williams. At the 2026 Golden Globes Brunch, he went straight for the sliders. “There’s so little time to eat,” he told The Cut at the time. “I’ve only ate two sliders while I’m doing this thing. My hands are shaking because I’m famished.”

Outside of red carpet season and filming, it’s McDonald’s over sliders. “Double Big Mac, no fries. Quarter Pounder with cheese,” he specifies of his order (via Wonderland Magazine). “Snack-size McFlurry, if it’s winter and no one will see me naked.”

Kale, Arugula, and Spinach

In between all that ground beef, Hudson Williams also makes sure to balance it all out with veggies, prioritizing leafy greens when his skin needs a reset. “When I’m breaking out, I eat a f*** ton of kale,” he tells The Cut. “I’ll eat arugula salads, and I also keep spinach in the freezer.”

Smoothies and Protein Shakes

Smoothies aren’t an everyday thing for Hudson Williams, but he does have them in his rotation, and always packs in the protein when he does. “I’ll drink a very green smoothie with a lot of those dense, fiber-y greens two days in a row, and my skin just glows up,” he shares with The Cut. “I’ll add fruit, a protein powder, a collagen protein powder, and some PBfit.” The combination of these ingredients, he says is the “quickest way to get an even complexion.”

Linguine, Penne, and Fettucine (Shape Matters)

A former employee of Old Spaghetti Factory, Hudson Williams still has a special place in his heart for pasta. He does have a strong preference, however. “Spaghetti sucks, rigatoni is awful. I like a linguine noodle or a penne noodle. Straightforward. Or fettucine,” he shares on Andy Live.

But while spaghetti may not be his favorite, he says between Connor Storrie and himself, he’s confident he’d be able to eat more than his co-star. “I think I would eat more spaghetti. Yeah, I think I could out eat him,” he tells Men’s Health.

Potatoes (But Not French Fries)

Hudson Williams may be a burger person, but French fries are a no-go for the Heated Rivalry star. “I don’t like mashed potatoes either. I like smashed potatoes, baked potatoes, scalloped potatoes. That’s it,” he says to Wonderland Magazine.

It’s a much different story when he’s trying to bulk up. In fact, Williams says he stays away from carbs altogether. “As soon as I saw Connor Storrie, I just decided to not eat carbs and try to get as big as possible,” he tells Men’s Health about avoiding carbs during filming.

Korean Fried Chicken, Deep Dish Pizza, and Sushi

When it comes to comfort foods, Hudson Williams says he gravitates toward Korean fried chicken, not too surprising considering his Korean heritage. He even made sure to stop by Korean fried chicken restaurant Coqodaq after his first Late Night show appearance. Williams also counts deep-dish pizza and sushi among his go-to indulgences.

Ginger Ale (very Shane of him)

Does Hudson Williams like ginger ale as much as his on-screen counterpart? Apparently, so. “My go to drink is a ginger ale,” he claims. Whether or not that’s really Shane talking is up for debate, but at the very least he’d opt for ginger ale over Coke, he says.

Cake for Dessert? Hudson Williams on His Glute Workout

With an intake that heavy on protein and calories, the training has to match. Williams doesn’t eat this way for maintenance, he eats to build. And when it comes to sculpting his lower half, his workouts are just as intentional as his meals.

Rather than a dedicated glute day as you might except, he tells Men’s Health that he does full body workouts at least three days a week (ideally five), and works out for 45 minutes to an hour, making sure to incorporate the following exercises (via Vogue).

  • Pitt Shark machine
  • Weighted Hip Thrusts
  • Romanian Dead Lifts
  • Banded Walks
  • Abductor Exercises

“The Pitt Shark will change your butt immediately. It takes all the pressure off your back so your butt is just being ripped apart,” he says to Vogue. “Hip thrusts are amazing for growing your butt out, while RDLs are key for growing that bottom part out.”

The formula is simple: eat with purpose, train with precision, repeat. And the results speak for themselves—see them front and center on Heated Rivalry.
